Their selection includes auteurs’ visions as well as director-driven stories by veteran helmers and new talents’ voices; original, observational, creative, conceptual, cinematic works, questioning reality while focusing on political, social, historical, cultural, anthropological, and women issues.

Among their productions, WANG Bing’s TA’ANG and THREE SISTERS, French-Chinese co-production WANG Xiaoshuai's 11 FLOWERS, LOU Ye's LOVE AND BRUISES and French-Indonesian-Thai-Malay co-production Mouly SURYA's MARLINA THE MURDERER IN 4 ACTS.

In their Sales & Festivals' line-up, works from all over Asia, among which films from Afghanistan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam by Asian Masters, such as Wayne WANG, WANG Xiaoshuai, WANG Bing, SODA Kazuhiro, Garin NUGROHO, as well as by first-time talents, including Sri-Lankan female director Suba SIVAKUMARAN, and Bhutanese director Tashi GYELTSHEN. All of them have been selected in International film festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Toronto.

Their aim is to promote Asian independent cinema to the global stage and to the attention of the International audience, market and industry, working on various aspects of the film including creative production, festival strategy, and international distribution.


At Chinese Shadows and Asian Shadows, the cinematic approach in a film is what it’s valued first and foremost, believing that cinema is a universal and powerful language, which transcends cultures.
