Producer, Director, Editor

ELZAT ESKENDIR was born in 1987 in Southern Kazakhstan. He studied Philology (2005-2009) at the State Kazakh University and Film Directing (2013-2015) at the Art Academy in Almaty. He worked for several years as editor-scriptwriter at the National Film Studio “Kazakhfilm”.


In 2016, his first short film OFF-SEASON won the Sonji Award for Best Short Film at the 21st Busan International Film Festival. It has also won the Best Debut Award at the Kinoproba IFF in Russia. The film was in competition of several other significant film festivals in Europe.


Currently, Elzat is finishing the post-production of his first full-length feature film ADASQAQ. It is a Kazakh-Czech co-production and was supported by the Swiss Fund Visions Sud Est. His next project ABEL was selected to participate at the Asian Project Market at the Busan IFF in November 2020.
