A young, freethinking teacher, LOTUS is seen as a rebel by her rigid colleagues and is soon thrown out of her school. Decided to live a new life, she moves to Beijing, trying to work for a news agency. But there too she is asked to compromise and adapt to what the system expect her to say and do. The more she resists, the worse her personal situation becomes, as she is fired again and again. Until a rich suitor propose to her. Furious, she refuses him. But she now has to pay the rent or she'll be evicted. How long can she resist alone? Shouldn't she let a little loose of her principles to try to fit in?
